Reception

Hello and welcome to Reception!

In Reception, the adults are Mrs Hollobone, Miss Laws and Miss Henry. We will all be learning new things and having lots of fun together!

P.E is on a Thursday afternoon. On this day, children should come into school wearing their P.E kit. Our school P.E kit is a plain white t-shirt and black or navy shorts. Where possible, our P.E lessons will be take place outside so the children are welcome to wear navy or black tracksuit bottoms. Please ensure they have appropriate footwear.

Our curriculum provides opportunities for children to gain experience of the following areas of learning:

• Personal, social and emotional development,

• Communication and language

• Physical development.

• Literacy

• Mathematical Development

• Understanding of the World

• Expressive Arts and Design

At Home

Every half term, an overview of your child’s learning and a sheet of activities will be uploaded to Tapestry for you to complete at home with your child in order to support their development. Some of these may be writing or art activities, others may include; games you can play at home, songs to sing or books to read. Please upload any evidence of the activities completed at home onto Tapestry. We will look at the photographs with the children during carpet time sessions, where your child will get the opportunity to share what they have been doing at home. We hope you enjoy completing some of these activities!

Reception Reading Books 

We will be sending reading books home at the end of each week so please read with your child as much as possible and fill in their reading record when you have. Please make sure your child brings their reading book and record into school each day. Your child will visit the library each week and will be able to take home the book they choose if they have returned the previous one.
