Year 1 Class Page

In Year 1 the class teachers are Mrs Bretland (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and Mrs Hollobone (Thursday and Friday). We also have Mrs Lightfoot, Miss Dunning and Miss Reynolds supporting. 

This half term P.E will be on WEDNESDAY. The children should come into school wearing their P.E kit. They should wear a plain white shirt and navy or black shorts or tracksuit bottoms. Most lessons will take place inside, but on occasions PE may be held outside.  Please ensure they have appropriate footwear.

This half term, the children will also have forest school. This will be on TUESDAYS. The children will need a pair of wellies to keep in school. They need to wear old, warm clothes and a waterproof coat. Please provide spare clothes in their bags incase they get very muddy!

In English this half term, we will be continuing with Drawing Club which they started in Reception. The children will read different texts throughout the half term. We hope that this will inspire some fantastic writing! We will be focusing on sentence writing, using capital letters for I and for names of people and places. 

Phonics is the teaching of early reading and spelling. We follow Little Wandle Letters and Sounds. Please visit the phonics page for more information. Please continue to read with your child as much as possible and fill in their reading record. Reading books need to be in school every day. The children will be given a new reading book every Friday which they will read for a whole week. Please click the link below to access parent resources on the Little Wandle website.

In Maths, we follow the objectives set by White Rose. See the attachment below which details the mathematical topics that will be taught in each term.
