Year 1 Class Page

In Year 1 the class teachers are Mrs Bretland (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday afternoon), Mrs Clayton (Wednesday morning, Thursday, Friday). We also have Miss Michael, Miss Henry, Mrs Rowland, Mrs Johnson and Miss Brennan helping us.

This half term P.E will be on Thursday. The children should come into school wearing their P.E kit. They should wear a plain white shirt and navy or black shorts or tracksuit bottoms. Most lessons will take place inside, but on occasions PE may be held outside.  Please ensure they have appropriate footwear.

In English this half term, we will be reading a book called Katie in London. We will be focusing on sentence writing and using the word 'and' to make our sentences longer. 

Phonics is the teaching of early reading and spelling. We follow Little Wandle Letters and Sounds. Please visit the phonics page for more information. Please continue to read with your child as much as possible and fill in their reading record. Reading records and books need to be in school every day. The children will be given a new reading book every Friday which they will read for a whole week.

In Maths, we follow the objectives set by White Rose. See the attachment below which details the mathematical topics that will be taught in each term.
