PE

The curriculum covers the subject content of the National Curriculum. Opportunities for our children to experience physical activity outside of school are limited for the majority of children in Reception and KS1 69% (62/90) children do not take part in any physical activities outside of school and in KS2 it is 59% (92/155) We therefore want to provide a range of new experiences and create an interest that may encourage them to seek opportunities to be more physical outside of school. We aim to take part in as many competitions as we can to increase children’s experience of competitive sports.

After school club provision:

Football, dance, netball, rounders.

In PE the curriculum units taught are organised to cover the areas of: athletics, dance, gymnastics, net and wall games, invasion games and outdoor adventurous activity.

The school is a member of the local School Sports Partnership which provides the PE lead with CPD to disseminate to the wider school staff. Other members of staff have also accessed training, including The Premier League Reading Stars Programme which is aimed at encouraging girls, in particular, to take part in football and develop Literacy skills alongside. This will be delivered to KS1 pupils during the Summer Term

Through this partnership, the children also have the opportunity to partake in inter-school competitions and tournaments.

Competitions include:

EFC Mini-Kickers Tournaments, Street Dance Festival, High 5 netball, Chester Zoo orienteering, multi-skills festival, tennis festival.
